一、主題原則（前二後二回合必出，一問一答為一回合）
主題句常常在對話的開頭，對整篇對話的大意起到概括和提示的作用，實際上是說話人所談論的中心話題；長對話的第一題很可能針對對話的開頭提問。
結尾處往往涉及到建議、決定或某種行為等，它對整個對話起到一個總結的作用。長對話的最後一題經常是針對對話的結尾設題，故留意結尾回合中的關鍵動詞就成了解題的關鍵。
【例1】(07年6月 19題)
[A] To go sightseeing.
[B] To have meetings.
[C] To promote a new champagne.
[D] To join in a training program.

M: Hi, Ann, welcome back. How's your trip to the states?
W: Very busy, [19]I had a lot of meetings. ...

選[B]。細節題。對話一開始，男士就問女士去美國的旅行怎麼樣，女士回答說很忙，她had a lot of meetings(要參加很多會議)，由此可知女士去紐約是去參加會議。
二、提問常出（聽見什麼選什麼）
長對話中，對話雙方往往出現多個一問一答，而這恰好成為了長對話的一個出題重點，文章結束後的問題往往就是對話原文中提問的原文復現或是同義轉述，因此聽清對話中緊接問題之後的答語基本可做出七成以上的題，如果不是為了追求滿分，攷場上完全可以遵循"聽見什麼選什麼，"尤其是在題多量大時間短的情況下。
【例2】(07年6月 25題)
[A] Data collection.
[B] Training consultancy.
[C] Corporate management.
[D] Information processing.

W: What's your line of business, Mr. Johnson?
M: We are a training consultancy.
25. What is the man's line of business?
【答案解析】
選[B]。細節題。女士的提問即為本題的提問，答案就在男士接下來的回答中。女士問男士What's your line of business(做哪一行)，男士回答說We are a training consultancy(我們是培訓咨詢公司),由此可知答案為[B]。
三、重讀常出
對話的核心內容理應會得到說話人的強調，最為有傚的強調方式莫過於重復，而且重復的詞語往往能夠揭示對話的主題。因此對那些對話雙方多次提到的詞語或內容應進行重點記憶。
【例3】(四六級攷試委員會樣卷-22題)
[A]The latest developments of an armed rebellion in Karnak，會議口譯.
[B]The fall of Karnak's capital city into the ands of the rebel forces.
[C]The epidemic that has just broken out in the country of Karnak.

22.What is the newscoverage mainly about?
【答案解析】
選[A]。主旨題。主旨題的答案往往在開頭或結尾，而本題的答案即出自開頭的第一句。選項中的latest(最新的)對應該句中的live up-to-date(最新直播)，armed rebellion(武裝叛亂)對應unrest(動亂)。另外，對話的主題往往會得到多次重復，旅遊翻譯，因此根据後面多次出現的rebel forces, conflict, war等與"叛亂"相關的詞語，也可判斷本題答案為[A]。
四、同義復現必出
正確選項往往與原文相似，或是原文的同義表達，因此應注意提取選項中的關鍵點，在聽音時留意其是否與原文同意並加以記錄。
